Coronavirus Update
Your current trip booking
WE ARE TRYING TO ENSURE THAT ALL BOOKINGS ARE COVID-PROOF. If your expedition is postponed or impacted by Coronavirus restrictions we will move your booking free of charge to a new date and also give you the option to change your booking into Orbis event credit which will be valid for 2 years to use on any Orbis event in Africa, there will be no admin fee charged and this can be split between friends and gifted to others. If you cannot attend an event at late notice due to a positive COVID-19 test within your household we will allow you to change your entry into Orbis event credit upon receipt of the positive test via info@orbis-expeditions.com before the event date. For full standard event terms and conditions please refer to our T's and C's.
Coronavirus in Malawi
Coronavirus is in Malawi. The country has seen a steady increase of cases. Currently the healthcare system is not over run but people have been asked to take precautions where they can. Social distancing and lockdown is very hard to manage in Malawi so instead hand washing stations and facemarks are being used. Our team at Responsible Safari Company are working from home but very much still open for business.
Future Bookings
It can be nerve wracking looking ahead and getting things booked into the diary at the moment. We have been inundated with people wanting to travel and are taking preliminary bookings for our 2021. 2022, 2023 expeditions. At the present time we are not taking any payments but as soon as dates are firmed up we will be contacting you to ask for deposits and starting payment plans for your trip. Please refer to our terms and conditions for further information about your rights and refunds.
Your rights and our rights
We do need your income to run our companies, pay our suppliers and keep our team in Malawi employed and able to give you the incredible Orbis service you expect. BUT we know you need your money protected too. We have created new Terms and Conditions which we hope provide you with peace of mind at booking and protect us in unforeseen circumstances too. Health and safety on your expedition
We take your health and safety very seriously. We have a full team of staff in Malawi as well as first aid trained guides, fully insured vehicles and suppliers we have worked with for over 10 years. Malawi does have medical facilities including a number of large hospitals but full travel insurance is highly recommended.
Can’t make it to Malawi but still want to be involved?
We are working with a number of organisations in Malawi to offer management training, mentoring and skills sharing so if you can’t make it out to see your project this year then do get in touch and we will be happy to check up on your project and work with you to ensure your work continues at this time.
A word from Dom and Kate: We just wanted to add a thank you on this page. Thank you for your patience, understanding and support during this time of uncertainty. We greatly appreciate all those who have gifted their deposits back to us, transferred their travel dates to 2021 and beyond or been patient as we refund your trip costs. We have faced a full year of cancellations and the most testing time for both Orbis and RSC and we greatly appreciate your support. We will make it through and can’t wait for you to be back out to Malawi soon!
