Orbis has chosen to base our expeditions in two very contrasting regions of this incredible North African country. The magic of travel to this region is in the fascinating combination of sights, smells, sounds and culture. We delve deep into Berber history, soak up the vistas of the High Atlas Mountains and discover the hustle and bustle of Marrakech life.
High Atlas Mountains: With several peaks above 4000 metres, the Western High Atlas are home to the indigenous Berber people who have inhabited Morocco for at least 5000 years. The Berbers live in small clusters of earthen adobe houses which cling precipitously to mountainsides and are often only accessible by mule or foot. Guests will stay at The Kasbah du Toubkal in the trailhead village of Imlil and also in a Trekking Lodge in the remote Azzaden Valley where peace and tranquillity prevail.
Marrakech is a fascinating city comprising of the ancient medina (old town) and the new town of Guéliz. Any visit to Marrakech must include a visit to the medina and its colourful souk (marketplace) where you can barter for carpets, leather goods, jewellery, lanterns and spices.Guests will stay at The Riad Les Yeus Bleus.
